Perhaps your family's humor is so dry because that tone has settled in over generations. Maybe you move on as soon as something no longer feels right – or stay, no matter what happens. Seeing a pattern gives you a choice
That is the heart of it: you cannot question what you do not know. A pattern you cannot see cannot be consciously kept or released – it simply keeps making decisions for you.
This does not mean searching the past for an explanation for every reaction. Nor does it mean blaming your family. It is about curiosity: Where do I know this from? When might this behavior have been useful? Does it still fit the life I want today?
Knowing your family history helps you understand yourself better. Not because the past explains everything, but because it gives you a choice: What do I keep? What do I let go? That is not a burden. It is freedom.
