When Grandpa heard Low German again
A rarely told memory of war, flight and coming home.
Grandpa hardly ever spoke about the Nazi era, the war or the flight from home.
But once he told me that he only came home in 1949 and walked the whole way back from Russia.
He said: When he heard Low German, he knew he was finally home again.
